The CMU PRISM WordPress site stores user data including your posts on a student-run and student-owned server rack operated by PRISM.
Data we collect: When you use our site, we may collect:
- Google User Data (when signing in with Google)
- Full name
- Email address
- Profile picture
This data is accessed via Google APIs with your explicit consent and stored in our WordPress database for the sole purpose of user account management and notification of site activity.
- Site usage data:
- Your posts (published and drafts)
- Your username and profile photo (displayed publicly if you publish posts)
How we use your Google User Data: Your Google user data is only used:
- To create and maintain your WordPress account on the CMU PRISM site
- To display your name and profile picture alongside any published content
- To send automatic site notification (i.e. password reset, activity updates)
We do not share, sell, or use your data for any purpose other than those listed above.
How your data is stored: All user data, including Google user data, is stored securely within the WordPress database in the server rack. Only authorized system administrators (principally lee9@cmu.edu and occasionally other PRISM officers) have access to this data. Data is not transmitted or shared with third parties.
By signing in with Google, you agree to allow PRISM’s WordPress engine to acquire the aforementioned user data for the stated purposes.
If at any time you wish to have your user data deleted in some or complete capacity, please email the org collectively at prism@andrew.cmu.edu and allow for a week’s time to have your request fulfilled. Any deletions of data will be permanent and unrecoverable.
